Phase II Construction of Saint Anthony's Development and Learning Center.

This past summer, Noel San Antonio and several UNF students went to the Philippines to complete construction of Phase II of the Saint Anthony's Development and Learning Center. Here is Noel's presentation.

Saint Anthonys Development Center Expansion To Be Assisted By University of North Florida Students.

Led by Joy and Caregiving Foundation volunteer Noel San Antonio, six University of North Florida students will be staying in the Philippines from July 24 through Aug. 16 2009. They will be expanding Saint Anthony's Development Center to add two additional classrooms. These classrooms will allow the current student body of in-need Filipino preschool students to continue on to 1st and 2nd grade programs.
 
In the afternoons, the classrooms will be used as a career oriented technical school.

A Smile Beyond Poverty
 
    “Life becomes  easy when somebody care to lift a hand………”
    
Marites Baldesco is  a widow and a mother of nine children. She and her family lives  in brgy. Cutcut, Guiguinto, Bulacan in the Philippines.  Life is not easy for her because she needs to work to feed her children. Everyday she works as a housemaid and earn 2,000 pesos (<$50 USD) a month not enough to sustain her family.
 
 
With this situation she even sacrifices her meal just to let her children eat. Their house is a former pigpen that was only fixed with a scrap roof and wood.

BEING A TEACHER AND A NEW COMER TO A MISSION By: Teacher Wilma God intends to use me in a wonderful unexpected ways, it’s been a long time journey, before I discover something…something that I can strictly say, “my true fulfillment”… my essence of being a human…to do my task…my unfolding purpose. God has a plan for all of us and I believe that this is His will, that’s why he brings me into the wonderful world of teaching. Teaching is a mission, and it’s true that if you enter into the field of teaching, you have mountains to climb and mountains to move. It is not easy to climb on a mountain.
